One of Lattimer Homes' Partners George Lattimer was praised by a national house-building chief for the quality of the company's homes after winning a record ninth UK award.

George, 43, was yet again named best site manager in Britain in his category at an awards ceremony at London's Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel on January 17.

The company’s success this year was for the standard of the work at Lattimer Homes' 18-property development at James Duffield Close in Workington on the site of the former Newlands House Hotel.

It came in the annual Pride in the Job Awards organised by the National House-Building Council, whose chief executive Mike Quinton said: “George & his team should be incredibly proud of their win.

"He’s beaten around 15,000 other site managers to this prestigious national award, putting him in the top fraction of one per cent of his profession. It’s a fantastic achievement that proves that the homes the company is producing are of an exceptional standard.”

Now in its 32nd year, Pride in the Job is the only UK-wide competition dedicated to recognising the people (site managers) who oversee housing projects from start to finish. George was rewarded for achieving the highest standards in all aspects of house-building, including the satisfaction of new homeowners and the quality craftsmanship, judged at every build stage.

Lattimer Homes is Pride in the Job’s most prolific winner, a nine-time national champion, with more than 50 awards in total. Lattimer’s was one of five Supreme Winners announced at the awards ceremony in the competition’s various builder-size categories. The Company's victory was in the category for companies building fewer than 50 homes a year.

The NHBC's awards were hosted by comedian Al Murray, AKA the pub landlord. George had qualified for the UK finals after winning the Pride in the Job's North West regional award in Manchester in September. George Attended the awards with his Wife, his sister & Brother in law Karen & Jeff Wilson, who are also partners in the business. Karen & Jeff’s son Craig Wilson who has worked in the business for 15 years also attended this year’s awards with his wife Helen Wilson, also employee Barry Pattinson and wife Karen Attended.

George, who was Cumbria's only representative at the finals, said: "It is getting harder to win every year because the competition is so high but it's a tribute to the dedication and standard of workmanship of all our staff at Lattimer Homes who have worked on James Duffield Close. The next target is to win a 10th national title next year, which really would be something special."
