Lattimer Homes director George Lattimer was named the best site manager in Britain for a record eighth time at a national awards ceremony in London.

TV presenter Denise van Outen handed George the National House-Building Council’s annual Pride in the Job award at a black tie dinner and ceremony in the ballroom at the Park Plaza Westiminster Bridge Hotel on January 13, 2012.

Independent judges chose George because of the quality of work at Lattimer Homes’ housing development at Sheila Fell Close in Aspatria.

George said: “We were up against really tough opposition but it was all the lads’ hard work that paid off. Everyone at Lattimer Homes has grafted for this over the last year and the award is recognition for that.”

It was an unprecedented eighth national title for George, who is also the most prolific overall winner in the competition’s history, with more than 50 successes at regional and UK level. His award was for UK site managers whose firms build three-50 homes a year.

A panel of NHBC inspectors and independant judges gave site managers marks for 38 different activities including technical expertise, leadership, health and safety and X factor.
